The Integrated Security Unit which is responsible for all security at the Olympics selected the Raytec IR units over competing products because they give the best possible night-time images around all the venues. Among other applications, they will be used to provide high quality illumination at the site perimeters throughout the 17 day Olympic and 10 day Paralympic Games.

Paolo Polano of Raytec’s Canadian office. says: "Throughout the rigorous testing undertaken by the client, the RAYMAX illuminators were clear winners because of their even coverage and performance to the distances required"

The newly built Whistler Olympic Park includes four outdoor venues plus over 50km of trails and is playing host to many prestigious events including ski-jumping, cross country skiing and biathlon.

Raytec’s RAYMAX Infra-Red illuminators score highly on all counts. Over a number of years Raytec has led the industry in maximising energy-efficiency and reducing waste. As well as consuming significantly less power than traditional CCTV and security lights, Raytec’s RAYMAX and RAYLUX illuminators deliver the benefits of low running costs, zero maintenance and longer product life.

In addition, the use of Infra-Red in the Whistler Olympic Park means that the highest quality CCTV monitoring is possible without any unnecessary light pollution. Because the Infra-Red light from the RAYMAX IR units is not visible to the human eye they have been deployed in environmentally sensitive locations worldwide. They are also tough enough to function perfectly in challenging temperatures and weather conditions.

Paolo Polano adds: "Raytec illuminators operate efficiently and reliably in all environments. In short, these are proven, robust units that are ideal for the most demanding applications"
